My intent with the homepage for Placer Wine Trail was to highlight what makes the area special and unique, to diversify it from the more polished nearby Napa. I chose photography that juxtapose your typical beautifully staged vineyards, instead featuring quirky people and adventurous views. This authentic approach feels very true to the spirit of the wineries and area.
An overlapping collage of photography, illustration, and copy showcased multiple wineries and experiences. The client was very conscious to not play favorites with member vineyards, so this became the solution for showing wineries.
I then designed a printed map featuring all member wineries. This map utilized custom illustrations almost as a subtle texture, and gives users added visual interest. Whenever possible, I love adding a bear to my designs, so see if you can spot it.
The logo and tagline inspired a custom alphabet which was used for region titles and headlines. It was also meant to pair with the rough illustration style.
